Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation examines current employee retention dynamics in Europe based on a large European IDC survey of 2,785 employees from March 2022. The objective of this study to dive deeper into the Hybrid Working pillar of IDC's Seven Pillars of Employee Experience (EX) in Europe. It explores how important hybrid working is compared with other EX pillars, how hybrid working is taking place in Europe, and how satisfied employees are with hybrid working support.

"European employers have come a long way in terms of facilitating hybrid and remote working and we see that hybrid workers are actually more satisfied than onsite peers in some work and technology aspects. However, a significant proportion of hybrid and remote workers point to unresolved IT-related issues and security-related uncertainties. Furthermore, many hybrid and remote workers struggle with workplace interactions that are deeply personal, social, and informal in nature, such as onboarding new colleagues, having work assessed, and connecting with corporate culture."
