Abstract

This IDC Market Forecast analyzes the human augmentation market in Europe and provides a spending forecast between 2021 and 2026. According to IDC, the human augmentation market includes technologies such as augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), exoskeletons, biometrics, wearables, affective computing, brain computer interfaces, smart home, and medical devices (ingestible, injectable, and implantable devices).

"Human augmentation is gaining a lot of attention across companies that want to evolve their work culture and move to the next level of their digital transformation journeys. Companies in Europe will spend $62 billion on human augmentation this year," said Andrea Minonne, senior research analyst and lead of Human Augmentation Research, IDC. "We live in an era of skill shortages and workplace transformation. Human augmentation technologies can help companies address these issues — not only do they unlock skills that humans wouldn't have without the support of technology, but they also empower individuals by elevating their existing skills and capabilities."
