Abstract

This IDC Market Forecast study presents a five-year forecast for European business-use tablet shipments by user type (consumer and commercial), operating system, and type of connectivity. It is part of IDC's continuing research on mobile devices.

"Despite long-term growth of detachable tablets in the commercial space especially enterprise, in the short term, the category may be impacted by stiff competition from standard notebooks that still remain the default choice within the commercial IT buyer community," said Rosie Secchi, senior research manager, IDC's European Enterprise Mobile Device Deployment Program. "For this reason, tablet deployments for business usage must highlight their aptitude to help employees engage in a more ways than notebooks to provide maximum flexibility."
