Abstract

This IDC Vendor Profile provides a detailed view of Google's performance within the context of IDC Europe's sustainability framework. It examines three areas:

• The vendor's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) achievements
• The vendor's social and environmental sustainability portfolio of products and solutions to help customers on their sustainability journeys
• The vendor's altruistic activities aimed at providing technology solutions and skills for good causes

The document details the vendor's performance across more than 150 parameters contained in IDC's Technology for Sustainability and Social Impact (TSSI) framework for cloud infrastructure and datacenter service providers. It examines the vendor's overall performance, indicates areas in which Google outperforms the industry average, and presents a view of the vendor's best practices.

IDC selects vendors for profiles based on their overall sustainability performances measured against our criteria, their proactivity on sustainability issues, and their provision of information in a transparent manner.

These vendors have been assessed for the purposes of our analysis: AWS, Beyond, Colt Datacenter Services, EcoDataCenter, Equinix, Google, Green DC, IBM, IONOS, Iron Mountain, Microsoft, NTT Global Datacenters, Orange, OVHcloud, Salesforce, Scaleway, ServerHouse, Telefonica, and Telenor.
