Japan Network Virtualization and Automation Forecast, 2019−2023: Beyond Software-Defined Network and Network Functions Virtualization

By: Kenichi KusanoGroup Manager, Communications, IDC Japan

Abstract

This IDC study provides the market forecast and future outlook for the Japan network virtualization and automation market that includes SDN, and the carrier network function virtualization (NFV) market from 2019 to 2023. The Japan network virtualization and automation and carrier NFV markets had an epoch-making 2018 in terms of the respective network areas and future outlook. The datacenter market overcame the SDN boom and turned into a stable growth market. Next-generation enterprise network virtualization and automation solutions that are equipped with continuous and recursive network automation and policy/intent-based networking requirements have become a driving force in the market.

IDC Japan's Group Manager for Communications, Kenichi Kusano, says, "Network automation level should continue to grow while expanding the scope of automation, instead of finishing at one solution. To improve the automation level, it is necessary for vendors to promote the evolution of voluntary network automation in user companies instead of simply supplying the solutions continuously."
