Japan Private Cloud Forecast, 2020−2024
By: Satoshi Matsumoto Research Director, IT Services, IDC Japan
Abstract
This IDC study provides market forecasts for the Japan private cloud market, taking into account the impact of and outlook for the COVID-19 pandemic as of the end of August 2020, based on the information collected by the end of August 2020.
The Japan private cloud market will continue to grow at a high rate, although growth will temporarily slow down because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, companies are becoming more aware of enhancing business continuity (BC), digital transformation (DX), and data-driven businesses, and are considering the use of the cloud more than ever. Meanwhile, public and private clouds are constantly evolving, making the competition and collaboration among vendors more complex and selecting cloud more difficult for businesses. "Vendors need to strengthen their ecosystem, centered on implementing new security, enhancing business resilience, and realizing digital transformation and data-driven businesses, rather than strengthening their private cloud business as an extension of what they have been doing," says Satoshi Matsumoto, research director, IT Services, IDC Japan.
