Japan Enterprise Storage Systems Market Shares, 2020: Sprouting of Hybrid Cloud

By: Shinya KatoSenior Market Analyst, Enterprise Infrastructure, IDC Japan

Abstract

This IDC study presents the performance of the enterprise storage systems market in Japan in 2020 and analyzes vendor performance and share as well as factors that caused changes in vendor shares. "Even in the open systems market, which was sluggish because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the market share fluctuated because of increased revenue. Infrastructure demand is also changing, with refurbishment projects being postponed one after another, whereas digital transformation (DX) spending underpins the market. In order to appropriately capture the high-value infrastructure demand for these user companies, storage vendors will need to make more extensive efforts toward hybrid clouds that enable flexible infrastructure use," says Shinya Kato, senior market analyst, enterprise infrastructure, IDC Japan.
