Japan Remote Work Forecast, 2021−2025

By: Hirotoshi AsanoSenior Market Analyst, PC, Mobile & Client Solution, IDC Japan

Abstract

This IDC study presents the forecasts for the number of businesses implementing telework and employees who use telework in Japan from 2021 to 2025 by industry segment and company size based on IDC survey conducted in January 2021. "In 2020, the number of businesses implementing telework in Japan increases dramatically because of the restriction on people going out as a measure to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic. There are also many businesses that prepared for this implementation in a short time even though they are implementing telework for the first time. Although businesses are able to recognize again the benefits and issues of telework, it is possible that depending on businesses, many will abolish or reduce telework in the future without fully utilizing IT," says Hirotoshi Asano, senior market analyst, PC, Mobile Phone, and Client Solutions, IDC Japan.
