This IDC study analyzes the current state of Internet of Things (IoT) spending and forecasts its growth from 2021 to 2025 by dividing the IoT market into four technology groups and these are further subdivided into a total of 11 technology elements. The IDC report also includes recommendations for vendors involved in the IoT business.
"As the market becomes more aware of the need for digital transformation (DX), the use of the IoT, which has traditionally been focused on large enterprises, is spreading to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and the market is entering its mature phase. Vendors must leverage IoT platforms to further strengthen offerings focused on expanding SME customers by standardizing application development functions, device management functions, and applications. These efforts can also be used as core offerings for IoT solutions for large enterprises, which is an effective strategy for vendors that currently have large enterprises as their main customers," says Yuta Torisu, senior market analyst, Communications, IDC Japan.
