IDC MarketScape: European Enterprise Social Networks in 2014

Authors: Alys Woodward, Jan van Vonno
Abstract

This IDC MarketScape study is a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the characteristics that assess a vendor's current and future success in the European enterprise social network (ESN) market, and provides a measure of vendors' ability to become a leader or to maintain a leadership position. Companies considering implementing an ESN, whether for internal use, external use, community management, or idea management, should consider this study to get a first independent assessment of solution providers that address European needs for ESN solutions.

"European organizations implement ESNs in order to make their workers more productive, their processes more collaborative, and their knowledge bases more easily accessible," said Alys Woodward, research director, European Enterprise Social Business, IDC.

"There are a number of different adoption patterns for ESNs in Europe. Some customers will find that they have unique requirements, while others are looking for a general collaboration platform. As a result, we see that the ESN market has evolved in a similar way, with vendors delivering a set of diverse capabilities," said Jan van Vonno, research analyst, IDC European Social Business and Collaboration Solutions.
