Resources Leaders' 2022 Digital Agenda: Middle East Perspective
Abstract
Resources organizations in the Middle East are preparing for future business disruptions in the post-COVID-19 era and the next normal. This IDC Survey presentation provides a fresh view of the business and ICT market outlook for the region's resources industries — oil and gas, utilities, and mining and quarrying. The results of IDC's Digital Transformation CIO Survey, conducted in the region in December 2021 and January 2022, are presented. The survey investigated CIOs' perspectives on ICT spending plans in 2022–2023, digital initiatives, IT investments, and technology focus areas, in addition to digital transformation strategies and investments trends in resources organizations.
“Many resources companies in the Middle East are challenged on their digital transformation journeys by a lack of digital skills and the necessary balance between digital innovation and daily operations. They need to prioritize technology investments in innovation accelerators to support their business priorities and resiliency objectives.” — Senior Research Analyst Farida Rehab, Data and Analytics, IDC
