Abstract
Government institutions in the Middle East are preparing for future business disruptions in the post-COVID-19 era and the next normal. This IDC Survey presentation provides a fresh view of the business and ICT market outlook for the region's government sector. IDC's Middle East Digital Transformation CIO Survey, conducted in December 2021–January 2022, investigated CIO perspectives on ICT spending plans for 2022–2023, digital initiatives, IT investments, technology focus areas, digital transformation strategies, and investments trends in resource organizations.
“Nearly half of government institutions in the Middle East are challenged on their digital transformation journeys by a lack of business and technology skills to support their digital innovation plans. There is a need to prioritize investments in IT capabilities in application modernization, infrastructure transformation, data excellence, security systems, and process automation to support business priorities and resiliency objectives.” — IDC Senior Research Analyst Farida Rehab, Data and Analytics, IDC Middle East, Turkey, and Africa
