Authors: Christopher Holmes, Kimberly Knickle, Robert Parker, Lorenzo Veronesi, Jeffrey Hojlo
Abstract

This IDC Manufacturing Insights Perspective provides an update of Siemens' software and automation progress, based on ongoing conversations with Siemens, as well as information garnered at the company's customer events and recent four-day analyst conference in Boston, Massachusetts.

Consistency is that one word that comes to mind when you think of Siemens: The unification of product and production has been the vision and steady drumbeat of messaging for Siemens Digital Factory Division CEO Anton Huber and Siemens PLM Software CEO Chuck Grindstaff and team since the 2007 acquisition of UGS by Siemens. This focus and effort are finally coming to fruition, as indicated by strong growth across all product lines, including double-digit growth of Siemens' cPDM and manufacturing operations business. And as Siemens evolves its offerings to be more cloud based, supported by rich analytics and a modern Web user interface (UI), it is well poised to truly provide a product innovation platform that connects all facets of product, demand, supply, and manufacturing.
