Wilvin Chee

Associate Vice President, Worldwide Software Trackers, IDC

Wilvin Chee is an Associate Vice President with IDC’s Worldwide Software Trackers Group. He is responsible in driving software data reconciliation process as well as managing the business of our global software tracker programs. Based in Hong Kong, Wilvin travels regularly to the head offices to work closely with the worldwide software analysts. He also collaborates extensively with lead regional software analysts to produce high-quality data and information for all the software tracker programs.

Prior to his current role, Wilvin was leading IDC Asia/Pacific Software and Services teams. These teams were responsible in building the region’s successful research tracker programs and producing core market information used across all research reports and consulting projects. Information included market trends and dynamics, share positioning, critical competitive factors, and emerging growth opportunities. He was also instrumental in initiating new research projects including SaaS, and Hosted Applications Management, as well as project-managing several large consulting engagements.

Prior to joining IDC in 2000, Wilvin spent five years in the retail industry, holding management roles from procurement to sales and marketing operations.

Wilvin also regularly delivers insightful presentations on software market trends at both IDC and clients’ events. His views on the marketplace have appeared in various business and IT-related publications, such as Bloomberg, FEER, WSJ, Business Week, Economic Digest, Forbes, ACW, Computer World, Intelligent Enterprise Asia, and others. Wilvin's management experience and IT market knowledge empowers him to recommend strategic business strategies for clients to gain a competitive advantage

Wilvin holds an MBA from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. His first degree was a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering, from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
