Shiv Putcha

Associate Research Director, Consumer Mobility

Shiv Putcha is an Associate Director with IDC’s Asia/Pacific Consumer Mobility and Asia/Pacific Telco Strategy teams. Based in Mumbai, Shiv is responsible for driving IDC’s research and thought leadership on consumer mobility adoption and trends and Telco strategies across the Asia/Pacific region. He also has additional responsibility as the Interim Telecom Practice Lead for Asia-Pacific and manages a team of analysts across key Asian markets and coverage areas.

Shiv brings nearly 18 years of mobile industry experience to IDC. Prior to joining IDC, Shiv was a Principal Analyst with Ovum, where he was responsible for tracking the development of the telecoms value chain in emerging markets across Asia, focusing primarily on consumer services and mobility. Principal research topics included the adoption of smart devices, OTT and content/media trends as well as operator and vendor response strategies. Before Ovum, he worked at Qualcomm in lead roles with their strategic marketing and analyst/investor relations groups. He also previously held roles at Yankee Group and LogicaCMG.

Shiv is a frequent speaker at conferences and client engagements. He is also often invited to present his opinions on news media – CNBC, ET NOW, BBC as well as regularly quoted in print media.

Shiv holds an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University and a BA (Honors) in Economics from Delhi University.
