Kar Leong Tew

Research Manager

Kar Leong is a research manager with IDC’s Asia/Pacific DecisionScapes Practice Group. Based in Singapore, he is responsible for the delivery of strategic and custom advisory projects across the Asia/Pacific region with a focus on big data and analytics and cognitive/artificial intelligence. His projects are delivered directly to enterprises in both IT supplier and tech buyer communities.

Kar Leong has more than 10 years of experience in the development of research for enterprise domains, particularly on the planning, execution, and validation of projects that incorporate machine learning capabilities. He has worked on topics related to bioinformatics, graph/network analysis, data-driven diagnostics, and Smart Cities. Currently, he is listed as coinventor of five patents (two granted) and coauthor of 10 peer-reviewed papers published in scientific conferences.

Kar Leong has a computer science degree from the University of Exeter. In addition, he is a trained facilitator of LEGO Serious Play methods and materials, which he conducts through engaging interactive workshops for a wide range of topics (e.g., leadership, team building, project planning, and creative thinking) and audiences (e.g., sales, operations, developers, managers, and lawyers).
