Avinav Trigunait

Associate Research Director

Avinav is an associate research director with IDC's Asia/Pacific Practice research group. He provides advisory and consulting services to technology buyers and vendors across two areas: augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) and enterprise mobility. Based in Singapore, Avinav leads the regional Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality research program that includes analyzing emerging market trends, the competitive landscape, market maturity as well as end-user adoption trends. In addition, he also focuses on analyzing the impact of emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), chatbots, intelligent virtual assistants (IVAs), artificial intelligence (AI), and AR/VR on enterprise mobility strategies.

Avinav is a seasoned management consulting professional, and has delivered many strategic engagements (such as organic and inorganic growth strategy, new product development and launch, shared services transformation, and data analytics and governance advisory) for clients across markets including Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America. Prior to joining IDC, he was with Deloitte’s US Innovation group that analyzes emerging technology and business trends and develops innovative solutions for clients. Before that, he worked for Wipro as a consulting manager for its business innovation group, TMT practice, and in the past has also worked as a strategy consultant for Capgemini Consulting’s TME practice. His project experience and research interests span diverse areas — AR/VR, IoT, mobility, analytics, blockchain, and cognitive computing.  Avinav has authored several whitepapers and point of view documents published by Deloitte University Press and Wipro Council for Industry Research.
