Derrick Chikanga

Research Analyst

Mr. Derrick Chikanga joined IDC in 2017 as a research analyst for telecoms, digital media, and Internet of Things (IoT). In this role, he provides research, advisory, and consulting services across Southern Africa and the broader Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (META) region.

Derrick's role involves helping telecom operators, equipment vendors, and other stakeholders understand the key trends shaping the telecoms environment and make fact-based decisions that grow their businesses. He also tracks technology innovations to identify emerging services that have the potential to impact and potentially disrupt existing business models.

Prior to joining IDC, Derrick worked for Frost & Sullivan as a research analyst focused on various sectors such as telecoms, infrastructure, automotive and transportation, and energy and environment. He gained invaluable experience in delivering strategic global projects, highlighting key insights, and making strategic recommendations to local and global organizations.

Derrick holds various qualifications from the University of Cape Town, including a Bachelor of Commerce degree (honors) in financial analysis and portfolio management.
