Perspective: Dassault Systèmes Analyst Event 2015 — Improving Retail and Brand Experience

Abstract

This IDC Retail Insights Perspective highlights the key developments at the Dassault Systèmes (DS) analyst event held June 2015, at the company's headquarters in Velizy, France. June 2015 saw the annual trip of IDC Insights analysts to Paris to spend 2 days exploring the latest experiences at the Dassault Systèmes analyst event. The journey that DS has been undertaking over recent years in expanding its next-generation product life-cycle management (PLM) offering, the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, has been progressing with solutions across 12 industries now available on the platform and is now entering the second 3-year planning cycle. The key message at this event is that the value that companies had already found with their move to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform would be increased dramatically in the future. Specifically, the way companies innovate would need to change and focus on defining a purpose that excites people (customers), and the value that companies offer will be different, compared with what is offered today. Bernard Charlès, the DS CEO and president, had also just returned from a trip to Asia and was full of admiration at the speed of change happening across all industries in the region; he was especially focused on China, discussing the transformation of Chinese industry from copy to create.
