Author: Adelaide O'Brien Research Director, Government Digital Transformation Strategies
Abstract

This IDC Government Insights Perspective provides highlights from The 2015 Human Services Summit: Emergent Leadership — Turning Ideas into Outcomes held October 23–25, 2015, at Harvard University. Accenture provided insights, resources, and support for this summit that was hosted by the Technology and Entrepreneurship Center at Harvard University and developed by Leadership for a Networked World. The focus of this summit was on helping human services leaders implement emerging ideas to realize capacity and outcomes and establish an organizational culture that allows room for failure in order to foster innovation. Participants included federal, state, county, city, and NGO human services executives from the United States, Ireland, Singapore, and Jamaica as well as executive leaders of the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA) and lecturers from Harvard and other higher education institutions. The Summit Executive Leadership Group, composed of human services and APHSA executives, guided the selection of the summit presenters and the development of the summit agenda.
