This IDC study is aimed to help IT and line-of-business (LOB) decision makers understand where their organizations are positioned with respect to a secured print environment. The study describes the IDC Print Security MaturityScape framework, which identifies the stages, critical measures, business outcomes, and actions required for organizations to effectively develop an effective companywide print security policy. The study also provides guidance on how organizations can advance along the five maturity stages to maximize the benefit from appropriately securing their print environment.
"Enterprises often see print security as a secondary concern versus other IT categories — often not receiving as high a priority as warranted," said Keith Kmetz, program vice president, Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions. "The most mature print security programs seek to address prevention, detection, and recovery, allowing for the organization to not only better secure its printing environments but, in effect, offer another level of security to the organization overall."
