Abstract

This IDC study provides CIOs and IT executives with an overview of the IDC IT Executive Program Next Gen Security Practice area. The description explains the area and scope of the practice, lays out the key issues, and describes the main research themes focused on addressing those issues. In addition, it describes the benefits and challenges of addressing these issues so that CIOs and IT leaders can assess for themselves the relative importance of next-gen security in the context of their enterprise, strategies, goals, and challenges.

"Next-gen security is essential for managing the risks and architecture complexities inherent in the digital economy," says Pete Lindstrom, research vice president for Security Strategies in IDC's IT Executive Program. "CIOs that want to participate and lead in their company's digital transformation must have an effective, forward-looking security function."
