IDC PeerScape: Practices for Reducing Risks in Digital Transformation Initiatives

Author: Marc Strohlein
Adjunct Research Advisor

Abstract

This IDC study introduces types of risk factors that can derail digital transformation initiatives, along with practices for mitigating them. The study is intended to help IT and LOB executives identify risk factors before embarking on digital transformation initiatives so that they can create strategies and plans to remediate deficiencies and reduce risks.

"Digital transformation of businesses, customers, and markets is an imperative for most businesses, but it entails a high risk of failing to achieve desired business impact, leading to costly, and sometimes embarrassing, mistakes," says Marc Strohlein, adjunct research advisor with IDC's Research Network. "IT and LOB executives can enhance their chances for DX success by taking the time to assess their enterprises' risk factors and make the necessary adjustments."
