Authors: Eileen Smith, Suya Xiong
Abstract

This IDC study provides a data-driven overview of the current trends of IT spending across the industry sector. It is intended to assist CIOs, IT executives, and line-of-business technology professionals in identifying high-level spending trends and making informed budgeting decisions. This study provides organizations with empirical evidence, which can both inform and validate IT budgeting decisions, as well as help them align IT spending with their key business goals. This study focuses on IT strategy and governance, enterprise IT transformation, and digital transformation.

"With the ever-growing dichotomy between controlling costs and driving growth through new technology investments, there is increased scrutiny on the way IT budgets are being built," says Suya Xiong, senior research analyst with IDC's IT Executive Program. "We believe there will be significant shifts in IT investment across industry sectors to reconcile 3rd Platform technologies with day-to-day operations."
