IDC MaturityScape Benchmark: Digital Transformation Worldwide, 2016

Author: Robert Parker
Group Vice President

Abstract

This IDC study is designed for IT and business leaders and functional leaders and their teams who are responsible for the creation and delivery of business capabilities. This study presents the worldwide results of IDC's 2015 Digital Transformation MaturityScape Benchmark Survey and should be viewed as a supplement to IDC MaturityScape: Digital Transformation (IDC #254721, March 2015). Together, they provide a comprehensive overview of the IDC's digital transformation (DX) maturity model:

This document enables manufacturers to answer the following questions:

  • Where are we on a maturity scale for DX competencies in terms of what the business needs? Where are our competitors?
  • What's the path to improve and achieve the level of maturity that the business needs?

"Digital transformation is a business strategy, not a technology trend. Our research shows that, while there is relatively low overall maturity, the companies aggressively pursuing a digital transformation strategy are creating a significant digital gap with those that lag behind. This gap will translate to a substantial competitive advantage in the longer term," said Bob Parker, group vice president and Digital Transformation lead at IDC.
