Worldwide Wearables Forecast Update, 2017–2021: CY 2Q17

Author: Ramon T. Llamas Research Manager, Wearable and Mobile Phones
Abstract

This IDC study presents a five-year forecast for the worldwide wearables market.

"2016 was a year for companies to realign, reassess, and reconfigure themselves, and this resulted in slower year-over-year growth for the wearables market," says Ramon T. Llamas, research manager, IDC's Wearables team. "2017 will see the start of what those changes are, and we look forward to second- and third-generation products that answer some of their predecessors' shortcomings, new vendors and products coming to market, and an overall warming from end users to wearables as a whole. Layer on top of that the launch of cellular-connected devices and more applications, and the market is set for double-digit growth for the next several years."
