Author: Robert Young

Abstract

This IDC study presents a five-year forecast for the worldwide virtual client computing software market as defined in IDC's Worldwide Software Taxonomy, 2016 (IDC #US41572216, July 2016). This study updates the previous forecast for this market published in Worldwide Virtual Client Computing Software Forecast, 2016–2020: Activists Leave Their Mark on the Market (IDC #US40699816, February 2016).

"As more enterprises undergo digital transformation to the 3rd Platform of computing — comprising cloud, mobility, big data/analytics, and social business — the manner in which desktop operating systems (OSs) and applications must be deployed and accessed is rapidly changing. With more lines of business (LOBs) making their own technology decisions, IT must remake itself into a more business-oriented organization and deliver its services faster than ever," commented Robert Young, research director, IT Service Management and Client Virtualization Software.
