This IDC study describes an approach to developing a framework for creating multitiered innovation strategies within the enterprise, from large-scale disruptive initiatives to more measured incremental innovation.
This innovation framework is designed to help CIOs and IT leaders who are using IDC's digital transformation management approach, Leading in 3D (L3D), to build an IT strategy that helps enable their company's digital transformation. The framework enables business and IT leaders to participate in a coordinated planning process for innovation that makes it easier to identify and prioritize the best candidates for DX innovation and integration for the enterprise. It also gives CIOs and their business partners a shared tool to recognize when customers or markets have changed in their use of digital technologies and offers a path to DX; for example, by implementing a digital alternative to an existing product or service.
"The innovation strategies framework facilitates a continuous dialogue about how external changes will affect the future of the enterprise among the highest-ranking executives while improving their ability to communicate insights to all of the resources responsible for execution and delivery," says Fred Magee, adjunct research analyst with IDC.
