IDC PeerScape: Practices to Improve Public Sector Hybrid Cloud Deployment

By: Thom RubelAdjunct Research Advisor, Stephen ElliotProgram Vice President, Management Software and DevOps

Abstract

This IDC study provides actionable advice to government CIOs and IT operations and infrastructure (I&O) teams that are responsible for deploying and operating hybrid cloud architectures for program outcomes. The practice recommendations are taken from forward-leading government IT organizations that are deploying hybrid cloud environments.

"Government IT organizations are beginning to look beyond datacenter consolidation and cost savings to deploy hybrid cloud services that will be integrated into their IT plans and road maps," say Thom Rubel, adjunct public sector research advisor, IT Executive Programs (IEP). "Public sector CIOs and IT organizations can utilize hybrid cloud services to drive sustainable program improvement through speed and service quality, but they need to be disciplined in their approach to avoid making choices based on perceived needs and tie metrics to achieving program goals."
