By: Marc StrohleinAdjunct Research Advisor, Vernon Turner

Abstract

This IDC study is part of a three-part IDC PlanScape series that defines the CIO's multifaceted role in IoT in the context of IDC's Leading in 3D (L3D) model. It focuses on the role of CIOs and IT organizations in helping their organizations innovate new IoT products and services. The study is intended to help CIOs and IT executives create a plan for helping innovate IoT solutions for enterprise, B2B, and B2C applications.

This study focuses on Leading in 3D, Transformative Technology, and Leadership Transformation.

"The CIO's role and the services that he or she provides will be shaped, in part, by the new demands that IoT places on the enterprise. These demands may range from creating a viable IoT vision and strategy to accommodating impacts on security, privacy, risk management, computing infrastructure, business processes, and governance," says Marc Strohlein, adjunct research advisor with IDC's IT Executive Program (IEP).
