Business Strategy: U.S. Defense Department IT Forecast, 2015–2020 — Moderate Growth Continues

By: Shawn P. McCarthyResearch Director, Alan WebberProgram Vice President, Customer Experience

Abstract

This IDC Government Insights report forecasts IT spending for various services within the U.S. Defense Department. Key findings paint a picture of DoD IT budgets undergoing slow recovery after a few years of decline.

"Network upgrades continue to be the big spending targets across the military services," said Shawn P. McCarthy, research director for IDC Government Insights. "Other increases show spending targeted at cloud solutions and security improvements. This trend is expected to increase for the next few years. Three driving factors are shifts in the nature of adversaries and the battle space, changes in the nature technology in the military force, and ongoing U.S. federal budget adjustments."
