Abstract

This IDC study provides an update to IDC's worldwide IoT market outlook at a regional and technology level. It provides forecasts on the installed base by region as well as spend projections from both a regional and a technology split perspective. The document also highlights key considerations for technology suppliers in this evolving and complex market as well as some of the drivers and inhibitors of growth throughout the forecast period. This forecast is created from IDC's Worldwide Internet of Things Spending Guide, which is updated semiannually. This iteration included data represented in the November 2016 Worldwide Semiannual Internet of Things Spending Guide.

"We are witnessing the Internet of Things market mature beyond its nascency as organizations are increasingly making strategic decisions to invest in a connected strategy as a means to drive efficiencies, visibility, or competitive advantage," says Carrie MacGillivray, vice president, IoT and Mobility. "The vendor ecosystem is responding to the need by offering integrated solutions through strategic partnerships and scalable approaches to address their customers' needs."
