Worldwide Workload Scheduling and Automation Software Market Shares, 2016: Vendors Pivot to DevOps

Author: Mary Johnston Turner
Abstract

This IDC study discusses 2016 workload scheduling and automation software market shares that include combined revenues from the datacenter automation and workload management submarkets.

"In 2016, the worldwide workload scheduling and automation software market saw revenue growth slow as mature products lost ground to a range of open source, commercial, and free solutions," stated Mary Johnston Turner, research vice president, IDC's Enterprise Systems Management Software. "Increasing numbers of customers are finding that some portion of their datacenter automation requirements can be met by unpaid open source and advanced software-defined automation capabilities embedded in advanced infrastructure platforms and public cloud–based infrastructure services. Customers continue to expand existing workload management solutions but submarket consolidation via mergers and acquisitions continues."
