This IDC Survey focuses on U.S. customer and partner perceptions of the Dell EMC merger. The Dell EMC merger closed in September 2016. In advance of this milestone, IDC conducted a global survey of customers and partners aimed at quantifying their sentiment regarding the merged company. This IDC Survey provides an update to a survey published in Customer and Partner Perspectives on the Dell-EMC Merger (IDC #US41576516, July 2016).

The customer survey data comes from a web survey completed in June 2017 that levered a Sampling Survey International (SSI) sample. 810 IT decision makers with broad representation of small (50–499), midmarket (500–999), small enterprise (1,000–4,999), and large enterprise (5,000+) organizations were included in the survey sample.

This survey also includes data from 104 reseller partners that were surveyed by telephone in June 2017 regarding their perspectives on the merger. The partner sample included a broad mix of principals/owners, sales leadership, marketing leadership, and alliance managers with a representation of medium-sized (100–499), large (500–999), and very large (1,000+) partners that were included in the partner survey sample.
