Abstract

This IDC Survey examines the results of IDC's 2017 U.S. IT Leasing and Financing Survey to understand customers' motivations for leasing and the expected impact of new IT consumption models on future leasing behaviors.

In September 2017, IDC's Technology Financing Strategies team conducted a survey of U.S. enterprise customers that lease and finance IT equipment. All respondents understood flexible consumption models.

The 300 survey respondents were IT and finance decision makers in medium-sized to large enterprises in the United States. All participants were involved in decisions about leasing, financing, and IT consumption models.

The goal of the survey was to assess customers satisfaction with IT leasing and financing offerings and partners and to understand customers' preparedness for new procurement models:

  • Discussion of FASB preparedness
  • Shifts to new consumption models
  • Key decision makers
