By: Suya XiongResearch Manager, Eileen SmithProgram Director, Customer Insights & Analysis

Abstract

This IDC Perspective provides a data-driven overview of the current trends of IT spending across industry sectors. It is intended to assist CIOs, IT executives, and line-of-business technology professionals in identifying high-level spending trends and making informed budgeting decisions. This study provides organizations with empirical evidence, which can both inform and validate IT budgeting decisions as well as help them align IT spending with their key business goals.

"With the ever-growing dichotomy between controlling costs and driving growth through new technology investments, there is increased scrutiny on the way IT budgets are being built," says Suya Xiong, senior research analyst with IDC's IT Executive Programs. "Organizations need to rethink about their IT budget allocations in the context of digital transformation and target their new IT investments with the highest-impact projects."
