This IDC study presents a five-year forecast for the worldwide wearables market.
"The wearables market continues to evolve, and that includes iteration on devices and features to keep current users active and attract new ones along the way," says Ramon T. Llamas, research manager for IDC's Wearables team. "By most standards, the new wearables in 2018 will make the first-generation wearables look quaint. But what they will also do is go deeper into fitness, be more integrated with IoT systems, be reliant on voice, and place a greater premium on design and aesthetics. Combined, these will make for a stronger offering compared with what we have seen in the past."
