A3 Business Forum 2018 Event Review: Driving Automation and Robotics Innovation Through Industry Collaboration
This IDC Perspective provides IDC's thoughts on the annual A3 Business Forum event held January 17–19, 2018, at the Orlando World Center Marriott, Orlando, Florida. The A3 Business Forum is an annual event that brings together top executives involved in the robotics and automation industries to discuss business trends, talk about the future of the automation industry, share ideas, and of course, network. The event is held over two-and-a-half days packed full with informational sessions, interesting keynote sessions, and an abundance of networking opportunities. The Association for Advancing Automation is a unique organization made up of three related industry associations: Robotics Industry Association (RIA), the Global Association for Vision Information (AIA), and Motion Control and Motor Association (MCMA). Each year the event draws business leaders from members of each of the three associations, which make up the broad ecosystem responsible for delivery of robotics and automation technology.
"One of the key points of value for this event is that it brings together the wide range of technology areas that have been instrumental in driving the development and adoption of automation and robotic technologies," says John Santagate, research director, Service Robots at IDC. "By bringing the ecosystem together in a common forum, these companies are able to share ideas, identify opportunities to collaborate, and help build out a strategic vision for the future of the industry."
