Abstract

This IDC Perspective shares highlights of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) re:Invent 2017 conference in Las Vegas, with over 70 new product/enhancement announcements and a broadening product set that increasingly focuses on tools for digital developers/innovators. The implications of these announcements for government are highlighted.

"AWS is using its cloud foundation to expand and simplify access to advanced digital innovation functionality. Key announcements were in AI, machine learning, IoT/edge, data tools, container management, and serverless computing, all core building blocks for government organizations to attain the 3rd Platform's second chapter," said Frank Gens, senior VP and chief analyst, IDC.
