On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Survey examines the current state of fitness trackers in the workplace in the United States. In late 2017, IDC surveyed 234 participants, asking the following questions:

  • What percentage of workers are using corporate-sponsored fitness trackers?
  • What brands of fitness trackers is your company using?
  • Since their initial deployment, what percentage of workers are still using fitness trackers today?
  • How would you rate the overall experience of having fitness trackers at your company?

"Fitness trackers were among the first wearables to make their way into the enterprise as a way to encourage health and fitness," says Ramon T. Llamas, research director for IDC's Mobile Devices and AR/VR team. "That goal has remained the same, but according to our survey data, penetration and ongoing usage have struggled. Despite this, reaction to having fitness trackers in the workplace has been largely positive. Altogether, the data in this survey points to growth opportunities for fitness tracker vendors and also stresses the need to consult customers on their usage and needs."
