On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Survey examines the current state of smartwatches in the workplace in the United States. In late 2017, IDC surveyed 293 participants, asking the following questions:

  • What percentage of workers are using corporate-sponsored smartwatches?
  • What brands of smartwatches is your company using?
  • Since their initial deployment, what percentage of workers are still using smartwatches today?
  • How would you rate the overall experience of having smartwatches at your company?

"Smartwatches have only recently begun to make headway into the enterprise, and thus far the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive," says Ramon T. Llamas, research director for IDC's Mobile Devices and AR/VR team. "Currently, the market is mostly underpenetrated and sustained usage has been, at best, a mixed bag. Still, the data in this study points to growth opportunities for the many players in the enterprise smartwatch ecosystem and the importance of cultivating ongoing usage with hardware and software to realize the goal of wearables in the first place: productivity."
