U.S. SMB Telecom Voice and Data Market Shares, 2017: Cable Finishes with Another Strong Year

By: Jason BlackwellResearch Director, Consumer Multiplay and SMB Services

Abstract

This IDC study analyzes and forecasts the fixed-line revenue for telecom voice and data services in the U.S. small and medium-sized business (SMB) marketplace. This study provides IDC's definitions of SMB and fixed-line telecom voice and data categories, and it presents a 2017 market share analysis of the top telecom providers impacting the small and medium-sized business markets.

"Small and medium-sized business services have become important markets for cable and telco service providers," says Jason Blackwell, research director of SMB Telecom Services at IDC. "Cable and Telco operators are investing significant resources to expand the availability of advanced voice and broadband services to SMB clients, and fiber and DOCSIS 3.1 are playing an important role. However, cable service providers continue to increase market share and make important wins with higher broadband speeds."
