By: Shawn FitzgeraldResearch Director, Digital Transformation Strategies

On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight presents an analysis of IDC's 2018 Digital Transformation Executive Sentiment Survey of 421 digital transformation (DX) executives, both IT and line of business (LOB), all of whom are responsible for their organizations' digital transformation strategies and implementations. IDC's 2018 Global Digital Transformation Executive Sentiment Survey represents 1,950+ organizations worldwide, spanning 25+ countries and across 40+ industries and sectors. This document focuses on the Americas results.

"Our research shows companies take one of five approaches to digital transformation strategies, from an ad hoc to a fully integrated digital strategy as a business strategy when implementing their own transformations and looking to achieve superior business outcomes through digitally enabled process capabilities," states Shawn Fitzgerald, research director, IDC's Worldwide Digital Transformation (DX) Strategies. "Our research clearly demonstrates an integrated enterprise strategy approach better serves the organization's long-term goals, more effectively aligning the complex functional interdependencies of traditional legacy businesses, despite being more complex than business unit–only or functional strategies."
