This study defines the strategies, programs, and use cases that will be implemented, highlighting the benefits of moving from current processes to digitally transformed processes, and the technologies that will be required.

Leslie Hand, vice president, IDC Retail Insights, reports, "This research was designed to speed retailers' digital transformation planning and development, and IDC data indicates that there is significant pressure on CIOs to digitally transform. More than 60% of retailers reported that the level of pressure on their CIO was a 4 or 5 on a scale of 1–5 in IDC's Digital Transformation Executive Sentiment Survey.
