By: John SantagateResearch Director, Service Robots

On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Survey presents key findings from IDC's 2018 North American Commercial Service Robotics Survey. This is the first iteration in what will become an annual survey designed to provide insight into the key trends related to current and future use of commercial service robotics across several industries. The survey seeks to understand business priorities and drivers of technology adoption and how commercial service robotics help organizations address their priorities. The market for commercial service robotics is growing rapidly, and companies that are deploying this technology within their business processes are achieving significant business value.

"Although we find the current state of actual deployments of commercial service robotics to be on the early side, the vast majority of organizations indicated that they are piloting, planning to deploy, or researching the technology," says John Santagate, research director for IDC's Commercial Service Robotics research program. He adds, "The benefits that users of service robots indicate they are achieving is outstanding, and companies looking to improve business operations and compete in the future will most certainly be looking toward commercial service robotics."
