Key Insights from IDC 2019 China Robotics Survey: Adoption and Future Trends in Manufacturing
By: Jing Bing ZhangResearch Director, IDC Worldwide Robotics, Vijay Sarathi GollapalliResearch Manager, Sahadev Kadri Ananda
This IDC Survey report provides data-based insights that will help both users and vendors to better understand the current situation and future trends related to the deployment of industrial robots in China discrete manufacturing.
This report is based on an analysis of China-specific data from IDC's 2019 Worldwide Robotics Survey. A total of 243 qualified organizations with at least 500+ full time employees were randomly selected from China's discrete manufacturing industry for this survey. These survey samples are evenly distributed into four regions (China North, South, East, and West) and two manufacturing value chains (engineering-oriented value chain and technology-oriented value chain).
"While articulated and SCARA industrial robots are the two dominate robot types deployed in manufacturing, the use of collaborative robots are gaining increasing popularity and acceptance," says Dr. Jing Bing Zhang, research director, Worldwide Robotics and Asia Pacific Manufacturing Insights, IDC Asia/Pacific. "The survey also revealed a number of important faster-growing application areas over the next two years and growing demands for integrating robots with enterprise application systems, such as enterprise resources planning (ERP), manufacturing execution systems (MES), cloud-based Industrial Internet platforms, and so on" adds Zhang.
