This IDC study presents the five-year forecast update for smartwatches shipments in the United States.
"The U.S. smartwatch market marches on," says Ramon T. Llamas, research director for IDC's Wearables team. "Apple continues to lead the market, and in a way, it also sets the tone for what a smartwatch should be. Meanwhile, proprietary operating systems from companies like Fitbit and Garmin succeed with a tight focus on health and fitness. Google's WearOS will retreat slightly in 2018 before rebounding in 2019, while Samsung's Tizen will remain flat throughout our forecast period. Collectively, these give users an abundance of choices and use cases, which will only improve."
