IDC Survey Spotlight: Growth in Digital Experience Platform Spending Impacted by COVID-19

This IDC Survey Spotlight provides the results and analysis from a survey of technology influencers within U.S. and Canadian organizations with 100+ employees. The respondents were senior decision makers who have knowledge of and were responsible for their organizations' strategies and plans regarding digital experience management (DXM) software, such as web content management, email marketing, social marketing, digital asset management, ecommerce, personalization/targeting, and other similar DXM solutions.
"The findings reported here indicate that prior to the COVID-19 crisis, nearly all organizations expected to increase spending to improve the digital customer experience through 2020, but that challenges to that growth were on the horizon, specifically perceived budget constraints and a lack of organizational buy-in," stated Jacob Groshek, research manager, Digital Experience Management Software at IDC. "We can expect the COVID-19 crisis to greatly increase buy-in across the board, but it will also negatively impact digital experience spending budgets, particularly at small businesses, which had previously projected the most growth."
