By: Bryan BassettSenior Research Analyst, Enterprise Mobility

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight analyzes select results of IDC's June 2018 U.S. Enterprise Mobility IT Decision-Maker Survey conducted among 250 enterprise mobility decision makers in the United States. As trends in enterprise mobility evolve, mobile devices are increasingly taking on new roles and workflows in the enterprise. In recent years, smartphone manufacturers have developed several technology solutions that allow smartphones to deliver a desktop PC–like user experience when paired with mobile docking stations connected to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. This technology not only enables a variety of new and interesting workflows for highly mobile workers but also has the potential to disrupt existing enterprise technology markets. This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights the current rate of adoption and the perceived benefits IT decision makers have in replacing existing PCs and laptops with smartphones connected to mobile docking stations.
