This IDC Survey provides results and analysis of key findings from IDC's 2018 U.S. Consumer Digital Transformation Survey, with a focus on key demographic metrics of respondents that IDC considers to be digital transformation-ready (DX-ready) consumers. These results compare digital transformation-ready (DX-ready) consumers with overall survey respondents across key elements such as age, gender, income, education, and employment status. DX-ready consumers are defined as those highly engaged with technology and able to set up and use technology independently (without help from others). The survey was fielded to 6,014 overall respondents (including 1,251 DX-ready consumers) over 18 years in January 2018.

"Digital transformation-ready consumers are, in general, younger, more highly educated, more likely to be employed full time or be a student, and more likely to live in higher income households compared with overall consumers," says Greg Ireland, research director for IDC's Consumer Digital Transformation program.
